‘Blue Blooded Ace’ Won Tae-in (Samsung) gave it his all but ended up with a no-decision.
Won Tae-in started the game against Lotte at Munsu Stadium in Ulsan on Sunday and pitched 6⅔ innings, allowing one run on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts. His total pitch count was 112. After getting Kim Min-seok and Lee Jung-hoon to fly out to left and ground out to shortstop, respectively, in the first inning, Won gave up a single to Ahn Chi-hong two batters later. He then got Jeon Jun-woo to reach on an error by the first baseman. With runners on first and second, Jung grounded out to second to end the inning.
After striking out Noh Jin-hyuk (swinging), Gudrum, and Ko Seung-min (grounding out to second) in the second inning, Won Tae-in gave up a leadoff single to right to Park Seung-wook. Kim Min-seok followed with a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second. Won kept his composure. He struck out Lee Jung-hoon with a swinging strikeout and then got Ahn Chi-hong to ground out to second base.
Two batters later, Noh Jin-hyuk singled to center and Gudrum singled to right to put runners on the corners. Ko Seung-min was stranded at third on a foul fly to center field. Two batters later in the fifth, Lee Jung-hoon singled to right, but it didn’t lead to a run.
After retiring Jeon Jun-woo, Shin Jung-geun and Noh Jin-hyuk in order in the sixth, Won Tae-in was hit by a triple to right-center off leadoff hitter Gudrum in the seventh. He induced pinch-hitter Yoon Dong-hee to fly out to third base for the first out. The Lotte bench brought in Ahn Kwon-soo to pinch-hit for Goodrum.
Won Tae-in induced Park Seung-wook to ground out to first base, but the runner on third scored in the meantime. With two outs, Won was replaced by right-hander Lee Seung-hyun. Lee struck out Kim Min-seok on a swinging strike to end the inning.
