With two outs and the game on the line, the Texas Rangers’ Corey Seager talked about how his dramatic tying two-run double saved his team from a seemingly insurmountable deficit.
“We’re a very resilient group,” Seager said in an interview following his team’s 6-5 World Series Game 1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on Monday (Aug. 28).
Texas trailed 3-5 with one out in the ninth inning, but Seager’s two-run homer tied the game. In the 11th inning of extra innings, Adolis Garcia hit a walk-off home run.
“We’ve been saying all season, ‘Pass the baton,'” Seager said. This game isn’t over until we get all the outs. We put together a good at-bat in the ninth inning and tried to keep it close,” he said of the ninth inning offense.
“I was just excited, it was fun,” he said when asked how he felt when the pitch went in. “It’s the playoffs. That’s what it’s all about. So it was a great moment, that’s for sure,” he said.
As for his preference for swinging at first pitches, he said, “These are good pitchers. You don’t want to just give them one strike. You never know if the first pitch is going to be the one you need to hit. That’s why you always have to be ready,” he said.짱구카지노
“I’ve been saying all season, it’s important to go over the plate,” he said, referring to his home runs in crucial moments such as Game 2 of the 2017 World Series and Game 7 of the last Championship Series. You don’t always have to be the hero. You have to rely on your teammates. That gives you a clear mindset,” he said, emphasizing the importance of not being greedy.
He also praised his teammates, saying of Garcia, who hit the game-winning home run, “Special players stand out in moments like this. He’s been doing that all season for the team, and it’s a lot of fun to see him do that.”
He also praised his pitchers. On starter Nathan Eovaldi, he said, “He hung in there for us, pitched a good inning, kept us in the game and gave us a chance to win. It was exactly what we needed from him. Fortunately, the offense was able to get him out this time. He has done a lot for us before. It was nice to be able to help him out today. I can’t say enough about the bullpen, they kept us in the game and kept us in the game. I think they were a big spark for us today.”
