The Major League Baseball (MLB) Toronto Blue Jays are getting some much-needed reinforcements as they keep their fall baseball hopes alive.토토사이트
The club activated Romano from the disabled list (IL) and added him to the big league roster on Saturday.
Romano has been Toronto’s closer since 2021. After posting 36 saves and a 2.11 ERA last year, Romano has 28 saves this season as the closer.
Romano felt back pain during a game against the Los Angeles Angels on May 29, and was placed on the IL the next day.
Following his injury setback, Toronto acquired Jordan Hicks via trade to bolster its bullpen.
After recovering from the injury, Romano made one rehab start at Triple-A before being recalled today.
With the return of Romano, who has 89 career saves, Hicks and Eric Swanson, who has been the closer, will switch roles to set-up man.
There’s also good news on the offensive side of the ball. First baseman Bo Bissett is back.
Bissett, a key Toronto hitter, felt pain in his knee while running the bases against the Baltimore Orioles on April 1. It wasn’t a serious injury, but he wasn’t able to play and was placed on the DL.
Bissett began a rehab assignment at Triple-A today. He’ll play designated hitter today and shortstop on Sunday.
If there are no major setbacks after his rehab assignment, Bissett is expected to return this weekend for a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds.
The return of Bissett, who was batting .321 with 17 home runs, 59 RBI, 50 runs scored and an OPS of .846 in 106 games prior to his injury, could be a big boost for the Toronto offense. Bissett was leading the American League in batting average prior to his injury, but has slipped to second in his time away.
