China was no match for Japan.

The Chinese women’s volleyball team defeated Japan 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-21) in straight sets in the women’s volleyball final at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games at the Changchen Campus Gymnasium of Hangzhou Normal University in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, at 7:30 p.m. (local time) on Sunday.

With the victory, China won its second consecutive gold medal at the Games after winning the last one in Jakarta-Palembang 2018, and its ninth Asian Games gold medal overall. China won three consecutive titles from 1982 New Delhi to 1990 Beijing and four consecutive titles from 1998 Bangkok to 2010 Guangzhou.

Japan, who challenged for the top spot 45 years after the 1978 Bangkok Games, were unable to break through the Chinese barrier. However, they did take home a valuable silver medal, 17 years after the 2006 Doha Games.스포츠토토

On home soil, China fielded a full complement of players who qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Ace Li Yingying, middle blocker Yuan Xinyue and Wang Yuanyuan never allowed their opponents to break through. Yuan Xinyue scored a team-high 18 points and Li Yingying added 16.

China did not drop a single set in their six matches from the first round of qualifying against India to the final against Japan. They won the title with a perfect 18-0 record. Again, it took them just 72 minutes to beat Japan.

In the third and fourth place match, Thailand defeated Vietnam to take home the prized bronze medal. South Korea, who hadn’t won an Asian Games medal in 17 years, achieved a rousing victory over Chinese Taipei in the fifth and sixth place matches.

North Korea beat Kazakhstan to finish seventh, India edged Hong Kong 3-2 in a full-set thriller to finish ninth, and Nepal beat Mongolia 3-2 in the 11th-12th place match.
